Anointing of the Sick Mass
February 11th is World Day of the Sick, an observation started by Pope St. John Paul II in 1992 as a way for believers to offer prayers for those suffering from illnesses. The day coincides with the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes. To mark this day at St. Joseph’s, during the 12:15pm Mass on Sunday, February 11th, there will be an opportunity for the sick of our parish to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Anointing of the Sick can be administered to a member of the faithful who begins to be in danger of death due to sickness or old age. This sacrament can be repeated whenever the sick person again falls into a serious sickness after convalescence or whenever a more serious crisis develops during the same sickness.
Please RSVP with number of people attending the mass no later than Friday, Feb. 9th to Jane Brown, OPA at 636-441-0055 ext. 113 or firstname.lastname@example.org
